The Greeting is an alternative rock band from Clare and Galway, who blend in elements of grunge and indie rock. A collaboration between Paul Dillon (pMad) and Liam Martin (Big Generator), they have released two singles to date, which I really like. Their music is guitar based and very melodic with catchy choruses. Both singles are excellent. I'm reminded of some cool 90's alternative rock bands such as 3 Colours Red, when I listen to them. The Greeting formed in 2021 and have recorded a lot of material, so I'm very optimistic that there's a great album on the way.
The Need was released earlier this year and is my favourite of the two. The atmospheric intro builds momentum before the song erupts into an air punching, festival ready chorus that is extremely catchy and certainly the hook of the song. There are some nice guitar licks in the second verse too. Overall, this is a very well produced and promising debut single.
The Greeting have recently release their follow up single, Over. This is another great single with a fantastic chorus. It's a fun song and in the words of the band, "It's all about moving beyond the drama, hypocrisy, and hate in the world. We’re over it, and we hope our listeners are too.”
This is a band I'll be following with interest. Their style is right up my musical street, so I'll be stopping by on a regular basis. The Greeting are definitely a band I could see whipping a festival crowd into a frenzy, as there is an infectious energy emanating from their music. Go check them out, now!
