Sun Mahshene - Ready to Conquer

Sun Mahshene are a post shoegaze band from Dublin, who formed in 2018. The band features Nathan Henderson on vocals/guitar, Robert Crosbie on guitar/vocals, Ian McGinn on guitar, Asia Wolf on keyboards/vocals, David Hilliard on bass/vocals and Dave Murray on drums. They have released several EPs to date and as you can guess from the line up, they have a big sound, which I like a lot.

The debut album by Sun Mahshene, A Place We've Never Been, is set for worldwide release on August 9th, 2024 and it's one that I am now eagerly awaiting, having spent the last few days tearing up their back catalogue and recent singles. They are an easy listening band that made me feel good. When I had them on while out walking in the evening sunshine, I noticed that I had a little skip in my step, as if me, the world around me and the music were all in harmony. There is a really good vibe from this band and I'd imagine they would resonate well with festival crowds. As mentioned, they have a big sound and it is very atmospheric but not intense. It's a well produced, multi-layered wall of sound that is light and fun with well composed lyrics. Sun Mahshene are a band that will unite rockers and pop fans and that's down to the artistic honest sincerity of their songs.

Sun Mahshene's next single (and final taster before the new album drops) is called, Pale Azure and it will be out on July 12, 2024. It's a fantastic song with thought provoking lyrics that will inspire us to start dreaming, to start living our lives and leave behind the comfort of "the faceless crowd". It's got a big chorus and big message and I hope it gets lots of radio play. The two recent singles, New Shores and Reverie are further indication that this new album is to be taken seriously. Both are really great and show the diverse sound that this band can bring. I'd also recommend churning through their back catalogue which flows really well. Stand out tracks for me are, This Girl I Know and Tales of Fiction and When the Bomb Drops, which almost calls out for Jim Morrison to appear.
