Strangers With Guns - Love all the People

Strangers With Guns have been on my radar since I started my Irish music journey and while I've to date not written about them until eh... now, I keep going back to them, letting them infect my mind a little deeper and make me love them a little more than the time before. I can't quite put my finger on it but they have something very special and I feel like they are the band of the people and just feel real. The Dublin based three piece consist of Jeff Crosdale on guitar and vocals, Paul Rennick on drums and Rick Wright on bass. They were formed in 2019 and have released two full albums and some EPs and singles, as well as some great videos.

Strangers With Guns rock as hard as any band in the world. Their music is heavy, fast and laden with riffs that will that keep you up grooving all night, committing all sorts of mischievous crimes. Their lyrics are often tongue in cheek yet behind the humour, there is an educated mind who is sensitive to the world but has chosen to embrace the brighter side of life. Crosdale fronts the band on guitar and vocals. He's a phenomenal guitarist who has an ability to churn out brain busting riffs as well as anyone before him. He's whacky and possibly insane, yet charming and charismatic and certainly is a fantastic front man. I've had the pleasure of seeing Strangers With Guns live back when they supported Ugly Kid Joe and I can testify that they sound good live and had the crowd jumping on each others toes.

Strangers With Guns are currently back realeasing new music and their latest single, Kill Me Militia Man (featuring Mik Pyro) is available to stream from the usual sources. It's a stomper of a song featuring some mind blowing lead guitar licks. The lyrics are taken from an anti-war poem by Artyom Kamardin. A poem that landed him 7 years in jail.

Strangers With Guns play The Academy, Dublin on July 13th, 2024 and I might just pop along if I can stomach a trip to the capital. They will be supported by Chemical Addiction from Kilkenny who I'm also a big fan of and have previously written about.
