Paul Sherry is a guitar player from Monaghan who earned a lot of recognition as the lead guitarist in the Grainne Duffy Band but has now started to make waves as a solo artist.
In 2021, Sherry released the underrated album, Let It Flow, which is a nice collection of easy listen tracks with stand outs such as Truth, Circles, Reflections and Better Days. It's a really cool album. I'd recommend Paul Sherry to fans of (early) Rod Stewart, Tracy Chapman, Don Henley and Bryan Adams.
Paul Sherry has just released a new single called, Fades. It's a more upbeat rock song than anything on Let It Flow and features some great drumming from Davy Cassidy. Sherry describes music as a form of meditation where music flows through a clear mind and in his own words:
"Fades is influenced by Taoism, as in, everything changes through the journey of life. By letting go, being present and fully aware in the moment, we truly experience the flow. The song is about the struggle to stay present and have a clear mind in this modern day society that we live in."
Staying in the moment, I feel like Fades is a really good rock song and that Sherry has a gift when it comes to writing songs with a message. I get the sense that Sherry is letting himself go a little more with this track, having fun and just letting the music flow. It's working for him and I look forward to hearing more from this artist.
