Longstryde | Wishing Well

Longstryde are a rock band from Dublin, featuring the talented Redmond brothers, Tommy on vocals and Ricky on guitar. The band's lineup also includes Andre G Silva on bass and Alex Sanchez on drums. They have released two singles to date and I'm really impressed by both songs and feel almost hypnotized by them. I feel like they have really captured some 80's rock vibes in their sound, yet it sounds fresh and modern. Tommy's background in operatic roles doesn't come as a surprise. He has a serious set of pipes and a smooth vocal tone.

Superhuman, their debut single, is a track that "speaks of breaking down self-imposed barriers, pushing against familiarity and comfort, striving to achieve while closing the book on old chapters, looking to horizons anew." It's an easy listen rock song with a nice message. The vocal melody and guitar fills really stand out. The guitar tone is really cool and there's a nice mix of a more traditional rhythm guitar with more experimental lead, which is how I like it. There's also a well placed guitar solo which I always look out for.

Longstryde have just released their second single, Wishing Well. I'm loving this song. This one is more adventurous, featuring a bedrock of intricate guitar melodies that create a wonderful foundation for a really strong and emotional vocal delivery. The chorus is one you can sing along to with a great hook in, "A boy like me needs a drug like you. It assuages all these things I think I'm going through."

It's been a strong start from Longstryde and I'll be following their story from here on. I would highly recommend that you check out their two debut singles and I would bet that you'll be as excited as I am. I haven't had a chance to blast these songs in the car yet and I'm really looking forward to that.
