Charcoal Greys are a new emerging rock band from Tipperary featuring, Emily O'Keeffe on vocals, Luke Boland on guitar, Zach O'Keeffe on guitar and Sam O'Keeffe on drums.
The talented four piece, who formed in 2024, have just released their debut single, Sober. It's an absolute stomper of a track featuring a high energy bass line and an exceptional and sincere vocal delivery.
Sober is a wonderful song, driven ferociously by an almost disco style bass sound and a thumping drum beat. It features a guitar led chorus and mixes elements of rock and pop. This is an anthemic song you could dance to and rock out to. It's extremely catchy and the lyrics are relatable and deal with breakup, which adds a layer of emotion. The vocal melody is fantastic and brilliantly timed. Emily O'Keeffe has an exceptional and powerful tone. I especially like the way her Irish accent comes out when she goes into her upper range and it reminded me a little of Dolores O' Riordan. Her delivery is passionate and there is a real sense of energy, hunger and enthusiasm coming from this band. It's as good a debut single as you may hear all year!
